Meet Zed Aar at Global Sourcing Expo Melbourne 2026: What Australian Brands Can See at Our Stand

We will be exhibiting at Global Sourcing Expo Melbourne from 17 to 19 November 2026 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, and this post exists so you can decide before you arrive whether our stand is worth twenty minutes of your day.

Most exhibitor announcements are a logo and a date. That is not useful to someone planning three days of meetings across a hall with more than 900 exhibitors. So below is what is physically on the stand, which kinds of buyer it suits, which it does not, and how to book time with us in advance.

If you are weighing up whether the show itself is worth the trip: the Sydney edition in June 2026 drew more than 6,500 visitors across three days at ICC Sydney, roughly 20% up on 2025, with exhibitors from over twenty countries. Melbourne is the larger of the two editions.

What is actually on the stand

Four things, in the order most buyers want to see them.

1. The linen swatch library

The centrepiece. Physical swatches across the full weight range we weave, from fine shirting through to heavy table and upholstery weights, in natural, piece-dyed, yarn-dyed stripe, gingham check and print. This is the part you cannot do over email. Linen behaves differently in the hand than it looks on a screen, and the difference between a 165 GSM and a 195 GSM shirting is something you decide by touching both.

We source our linen woven from flax grown in Western Europe, which is worth knowing if your own marketing makes claims about fibre origin. If you want the detail before you arrive, our guide to linen GSM explains what each weight band is actually for.

2. Sample garments

Made-up pieces rather than flat fabric: shirting, wide-leg trousers, wrap dresses and co-ords, so you can look at seam construction, finishing and how the fabric falls once it is a garment rather than a length. Our apparel range gives you a sense of the shapes we already have patterns for.

3. Home and table

The range that tends to surprise people who found us through apparel: napkins, tablecloths, placemats, tea towels, cushion covers, curtains and totes. For Australian homewares buyers this is often the more relevant half of the stand. Our home textiles and kitchen linen categories cover what is in production now.

4. The things that are not products

Compliance documentation, audit information and the paperwork a sourcing manager actually has to satisfy internally. We are a Sedex member and have completed a SMETA audit, we manufacture to OEKO-TEX standards, and we are recognised by the Government of India as a One Star Export House. Testing and compliance documentation is available to buyer requirements - bring your checklist and we will go through it line by line rather than handing you a brochure. Our accreditations page sets out what we hold.

Who should stop at the stand

  • Australian apparel brands moving off stock fabric. If you have outgrown buying from a wholesaler and want your own fabric, colour and labelling, that is the conversation we are set up for.
  • Homewares and lifestyle retailers building a linen table or bedding range under their own label.
  • Buyers who need natural fibre specifically. Linen, cotton and silk are what we do. If your range is performance synthetics, we are not your best use of twenty minutes.
  • Brands with a tech pack and no manufacturer. Bring it. See below.

Who probably should not

Being straight about this saves everyone time. We are not the right fit if you need very large single-style runs at the lowest possible unit price, if your product is technical outerwear or bonded and laminated construction, or if you need stock service from a warehouse with 48-hour despatch. We are a made-to-order manufacturer, which has real advantages and one real cost - we have written about that trade-off honestly rather than hiding it until you enquire.

How to make the meeting worth having

Three days of a trade show is a blur for everyone. The buyers who get the most out of a stand visit almost always do the same three things.

  1. Send the tech pack, or the idea, beforehand. Even a rough one. If we have seen it before the show we can have fabric options and an indicative cost ready, and the twenty minutes becomes a decision rather than an introduction.
  2. Tell us your volume honestly. A first order of 300 pieces is a perfectly good conversation. A first order of 300 pieces described as 3,000 wastes both our time when the PO arrives.
  3. Bring your compliance checklist. Whatever your buying team requires - audit status, testing, documentation - ask at the stand rather than discovering a gap three weeks into sampling.

You can book a meeting slot with us now. Slots fill from the back of the calendar forwards, so day one is usually the easiest to get.

A note on who you will be meeting

Zed Aar Exports has been exporting since 2007, and shipped to more than twenty-five countries in that time, including Australia. The weaving behind it goes back further: the family has worked in textiles in Bhagalpur since 1970. Those are two different clocks and we try not to blur them - the craft is older than the company.

What that means practically at a trade show is that the people on the stand can answer questions about the loom, not just the price list. If you want to understand why a particular linen behaves the way it does, or what changes when you move a stripe from yarn-dyed to printed, that is a conversation we enjoy.

Before Melbourne

If November is too far away to be useful, you do not have to wait. We ship swatch cards internationally, so you can have linen in your hand within a couple of weeks and arrive at the stand already knowing which weights you want to talk about. For a broader view of what sourcing from us actually looks like, start with how Australian brands source linen from India, which covers minimums, lead times and shipping to Melbourne and Sydney in detail.

We will update this page with the stand number as soon as it is allocated.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to register in advance to visit the expo?

Yes. Entry is free for trade visitors but registration is required, and it is handled by the organiser rather than by exhibitors. Register through the Global Sourcing Expo website before you travel and bring the confirmation with you.

Can I bring a tech pack to the stand?

Please do. A tech pack, a reference garment or even a photograph with measurements is the fastest way to get a meaningful conversation started. If you send it before the show we will have costed it and can talk numbers at the stand instead of taking notes.

What order sizes does Zed Aar work with?

Minimums vary by product family and by how much customisation a style needs. Simple home and table items in an existing fabric start lower than a custom-woven, custom-dyed apparel style. We publish indicative bands rather than one headline number, because a single number is almost always wrong for the style in front of us.

Is Zed Aar only a linen supplier?

Linen is the specialisation and the largest part of the range, but we also manufacture in cotton, silk and blends. Bhagalpur silk is where the family business began and it remains part of what we make.

Fifteen minutes at the stand beats fifteen emails.
